Ford is one of the world’s most established automotive companies, and its presence in the United Kingdom dates back over a century. Since Ford began production in the UK, it has become well-known for manufacturing reliable vehicles that have stood the test of time.

The first 3 Ford Model As, were imported into the UK in 1903, and the first dealership opened in Southampton in November 1910.The companies first British assembly plant opened in Trafford Park, Manchester in 1911. Over the last 100 years, Ford has gone from strength to strength by investing heavily in research and development to bring quality products to their customers.

Today, Ford currently has 2 factories in the UK, Dagenham (diesel engine production) and Halewood (transmissions). This number is reduced massively from the 14 sites over the country, when Ford used to own Jaguar Landover, Volvo and Aston Martin.

Ford of Britain also operates a large research and development facility in Dunton, Essex, which employs over 3,000 engineers.
