1960 saw the UK drop from being the second largest motor vehicle manufacturer to the third. This was mainly due to production cost rising higher, compared to the American, Japanese and European competition. By the mid 1960’s the UK had dropped in the motor vehicle production rankings down to fourth largest in the world.
